Auch unser zweites internationales Projekt in Nepal ist frühzeitig über unseren Partner Plan International voll finanziert. Die Umsetzung der Maßnahmen an den vom Erdbeben in 2015 zerstörten Churiyamai und Kalika-Schulen sind beendet. Informationen zum Projekt: Nach dem grossen Erdbeben in Nepal im Jahr 2015 wurden 47.497 von insgesamt 84.000 Schulen zerstört oder beschädigt. Das heisst, ca. 43 % der Klassenräume sind nicht mehr sicher. Besonders betroffen ist die Region Makwanpur, in der auch unser Patenkind Diya zur Schule geht.
Wie hat die Diyi for Kids-Stiftung geholfen?
An der Churiyamai- und der Kalika-Schule fanden Renovierungen und Reparaturen statt, so dass die Kinder geschützt lernen können. Darüber hinaus nahmen Lehrer*innen und Schüler*innen an Trainings teil, wie sie sich im Falle von Katastrophen verhalten sollen und schützen können. Dazu gehörten auch Erste-Hilfe-Themen und Gesundheitsschutz. Ein besonderes Highlight war die Gründung der „Child Clubs“, in denen Mädchen und Jungen lernen, ihre Interessen zu vertreten und persönliche Stärken zu fördern. In den Schuldistrikten fanden Workshops mit Lehrkräften, lokalen Autoritäten und den Schüler*innen statt, um für ein geschütztes und inklusives Lernumfeld zu sensibilisieren und dieses nachhaltig zu sichern. Mit dem Projekt soll Kindern, insbesondere Mädchen und Kindern mit Behinderungen, ein sicherer Zugang zu Bildung und ein geschütztes Lernumfeld geschaffen werden. Insgesamt profitierten 3.660 Mädchen und Jungen im Alter von drei bis 16 Jahren von den Aktivitäten.

Our second international project in Nepal has also been fully financed by our partner Plan International. The implementation of repairs at the Churiyamai and Kalika schools, destroyed by the earthquake in 2015, has been completed. Many thanks to all Diyi for Kids donors who made this project possible. Information about the project: After the big earthquake in Nepal in 2015, 47,497 schools out of a total of 84,000 schools were destroyed or damaged. This means that about 43% of the classrooms were no longer safe. The Makwanpur region, where our godchild Diya also goes to school, had particularly been affected.
How has the Diyi for Kids Foundation helped? Renovations and repairs have been carried out at Churiyamai and Kalika schools so that the children can learn in a safe environment. In addition, teachers and students took part in training sessions on how to behave and protect themselves in the event of disasters. A special highlight was the founding of the „Child Clubs“, in which girls and boys learn to represent their interests and promote personal strengths. Workshops with teachers, local authorities and the pupils were held in the school districts to raise awareness of a protected and inclusive learning environment and to ensure that it is sustainable. The project aims to provide children, especially girls and children with disabilities, with safe access to education and a protected learning environment. A total of 3,660 girls and boys aged between three and 16 years benefited from these activities.
