Casa Farfalla – Care for children with disabilities
Partner
Project Information
While searching for a Swiss project that aligns with our foundation’s mission of education and youth welfare, we became aware of Casa Farfalla.
Many children and young people with disabilities live with their parents and attend a special school or a home. Parents do a great deal to care for and educate their children and are grateful for occasional respite.
For 20 years, Casa Farfalla has been a family-run vacation and respite facility for children and adults with disabilities. Here, up to five people find a loving home and professional care for weekends, vacations, and even emergencies. It is run by Patrizia and Aubi Dolfini. It is not just a place to live, play, and laugh together. Here, the needs and wishes of each individual are addressed in a flexible manner. Casa Farfalla thus closes an existing gap in care and offers parents and relatives occasional respite.
There is no legal basis for public funding for Casa Farfalla. Therefore, they are solely dependent on donations.
How did the Diyi for Kids Foundation provide support?
Patrizia and Aubi Dolfini believe it is important that their guests feel comfortable, but also that the furniture meets their needs. The donations were invested in a new barrier-free bathroom and a new mattress for a wheelchair-accessible bed, among other things. Special requirements are needed here to ensure a good and safe night’s sleep. A sofa was also purchased for the common room.
