2020 was special in every respect and held some unexpected situations for both Diyi for Kids and our project partners. All spring and Christmas markets in which we would have participated were cancelled. Through the personal exchange with the donors and the sale of Diyi Charity products, we had been able to collect more donations in the past years. So we have greatly expanded our presence in social media.
Our project partners also had to react quickly:
Plan International 1500.– € – Nepal is very strict with the lockdown and since March 2020 schools have been closed. The country is far from being able to offer home schooling. Through our donor ‘Stiftung Hilfe mit Plan’, we learned that lessons were conducted over the radio. The children were able to ask questions via their parents’ phones which were answered on the radio. Your donations for Nepal will go to two mobile schools which are very much necessary especially in the rainy months, as the school roads are then very difficult or impossible to walk on. www.plan.de/patenschaft-asien/patenschaft-nepal/projekt-sichere-und-inklusive-schulen-in-nepal.html
Casa Farfalla 700.– € – Casa Farfalla offers supervised care for people with mental or multiple disabilities on holidays, weekends and in emergencies. The children and young people feel like being part of a big family here and are cared for professionally and lovingly by Patrizia and Aubi Dolfini. This year, many guests could not come because of the Corona pandemic. The Dolfinis took this as an opportunity to renovate the five rooms in Casa Farfalla. Your donations will be invested in a new mattress for a bed suitable for disabled people. Here, very special requirements are needed for a good and safe night’s sleep. www.casafarfalla.ch
Bildungscent e.V. 700.– € – The Bildungscent team also had to adapt fast this year. Normally, they conduct workshops at schools and sensitise teachers and pupils for climate-relevant topics. This year, they switched to mostly digital formats. Your donations will go to the following project: Vernetzt. Schule engagiert. (Cross-Linked. School engaged.) This is a nationwide network that offers teachers and educational institutions new impulses and ideas for their projects, activities and networking opportunities. They answer questions like: How do future issues find their way into schools? How do we actually learn about, for example, sustainability? www.aktion-klima.bildungscent.de/
We are very proud that we have achieved such great results despite the global pandemic and that we can support these three projects with your help.
And we have news for you. The Diyi for Kids Foundation always supports 3 projects: one international, one national and one regional. From 2021, we will have two new project partners for our Germany and Berlin projects. You will find out more about these at the beginning of next year.
We would like to thank Aubi and Patrizia Dolfini from Casa Farfalla and Vivian Jehle from Bildungscent e.V. for their friendly and intensive cooperation over the past three years. We could learn a lot from you and your great commitment and become part of your daily work for the improvement of education and upbringing for children and young people. Thank you!
