BildungsCent e.V.

Since 2003, BildungsCent e.V., based in Berlin, has been working with 5,500 schools and educational institutions throughout Germany. The purpose of this non-profit organization is to promote a new and sustainable teaching and learning culture.

All programs aim to develop schools as living spaces where students can develop their potential and actively participate in shaping school life and their environment. Our world is characterized by major challenges. We see it as our responsibility to prepare children and young people for these challenges at an early age.

With action- and experience-oriented offerings, Bildungscent e.V. supports participation, cooperation, and the exchange of perspectives, creativity, and empathy, as well as networked and critical thinking.

Program Examples

KursWechsel

In the model project KursWechsel – Schüler:innen machen Schule! (Course Change – Students Make School!), students explore the complex topic of marine pollution caused by plastic waste. They swap roles with their teachers, design a training course for their teachers, and conduct it themselves.

They receive technical support from various experts. Teachers gain insight into a complex interdisciplinary sustainability topic and develop links to their respective subject areas. They learn how young people approach this difficult topic and which aspects they consider particularly important. Together, they explore their own options for action.

StartGreen@School

The StartGreen@School program supports existing or newly founded student companies in making their businesses sustainable. Students and their teachers learn about sustainable business practices, are given opportunities to network, and get involved in climate protection through their student companies.

KlimaKiste

The Climate Box provides students and teachers with inspiration for sustainability and climate protection projects at their school. The Climate Box contains an energy meter, a water flow measuring cup, radish seeds, a solar lamp, a film about urban development and mobility, information materials, and much more. The aim is to encourage students to take a creative and action-oriented approach to climate protection and sustainability. The contents of the Climate Box were compiled by students at a comprehensive school in Essen.
