Professional Future and Workplace for Young People

Project Partner

Plan International is an independent development cooperation and humanitarian aid organization. Girls and boys around the world should have equal rights and opportunities and be able to actively shape their future. To achieve this, we implement efficient and transparent projects for sustainable community development in our partner countries and respond quickly to emergencies and disasters that threaten children’s lives.

In more than 45 countries, we work hand in hand with children, young people, supporters, and partners of all genders to achieve our global goal: 100 million girls should learn, lead, decide, and reach their full potential. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals reinforce our commitment.

Project Information

Nepal – a predominantly agricultural country with a small manufacturing sector. In the two project regions of Dhanusha and Sindhuli in the east of the country, most of the population also lives from agriculture. The manufacturing and service sectors are still in the early stages of development.

Women and young people are particularly affected by unemployment. Cultural role models and the few opportunities to obtain an educational qualification are among the reasons for this. Early marriage (more than a third of under 18-year-olds) or the early assumption of domestic duties also worsen women’s opportunities.

To give young people, especially young women, new prospects for the future, we will support them with vocational training and entrepreneurial courses. At the same time, educational and awareness-raising events are held for employers, government representatives and leaders from politics, religion and society.

How does the Diyi for Kids Foundation would like to support?

The aim of this project is to provide young people with an apprenticeship, internship or self-employment through entrepreneurial training and further education, thus giving them better prospects for the future.

In concrete terms, this includes coaching to help them find a job, but also courses in reading, writing and arithmetic as well as computer and English courses. In addition, there is the development of networks and support for mothers in their vocational training through better childcare facilities.

For example, 828 euros can be used to pay for vocational training for a trainee. Around 1,500 euros are needed to set up eight childcare rooms so that mothers can also take part in the training courses.
