Holistic learning at the Christophorusschule Hoppenrade

Project Partner

The CJD (Christliches Jugenddorfwerk Deutschlands e. V.) is a non-profit educational organization that operates nationwide and is committed to equal opportunities and individual support. With over 150 locations, the CJD offers educational, upbringing, training and integration support for young people, especially those with special needs.

Project Information

With currently 43 Christophorus schools, the CJD offers over 12,000 pupils support and a wide range of services for an inclusive learning environment, individual development and holistic learning. Our support will go to the Christophorus School in Hoppenrade, a state-recognized special school with a special educational focus on “intellectual development”. The school has set itself the task of supporting pupils between the ages of six and 18 and accompanying them on their individual educational path. The focus is on the holistic development of the children’s and young people’s personalities.

What particularly distinguishes the school is the wide range of special educational support measures and therapeutic offers such as animal-assisted therapy (with horses and alpacas), religious education, vocational orientation, experiential education and comprehensive digital learning opportunities. Another special feature of the school is the colorful school garden, where students can plant, tend and harvest, as well as the daily fresh meals from the school’s own kitchen are part of this offer.

How would the Diyi for Kids Foundation like to support?

A dedicated team of teachers and supervisors aims to offer children and young people with intellectual disabilities a holistic learning environment. This includes promoting movement, improving motor skills, increasing social interaction and developing social skills.

With the Diyi for Kids donations, we want to support the school holistically in its inclusive approach and use the money specifically where it is most urgently needed. The team at Christophorusschule Hoppenrade has selected two specific projects for 2025:

    • “Movement makes you strong” – purchasing sports equipment for various activities, such as balance exercises, competitive games and strength training. The equipment should offer a variety of exercise and play opportunities to meet the individual needs of the pupils.
    • “Chill & Connect” – construction of a covered shelter with seating in the school playground. This will serve as a social meeting place where pupils can find shelter during breaks and chat with their classmates

In total, over 150 pupils aged six to 18 and a dedicated school team of teachers and supervisors benefit from Diyi’s support.

Anyone who knows us at Diyi for Kids knows that we don’t just provide financial support. Our commitment of time will also flow in and we will actively help to create awareness for the enrichment of inclusive learning environments.

We will lend a hand with our time commitment and raise awareness of inclusive learning environments.
