Temporarily housed and without prospects

Nov 5, 2023

Around 40 percent of people seeking asylum in Germany are children and young people. Like adults, they are housed in shared accommodation and sometimes wait years for their asylum proceedings to be completed. Especially now, in the dark, cold season, living conditions for children and young people in these accommodations are dire.

In addition, as a study by UNICEF and the Institute for Human Rights shows, the rights of children and young people are violated in these accommodations. Conditions suitable for children are neither structurally anchored nor systematically monitored. The children themselves see no prospects for themselves here. They want more privacy and places of retreat and describe poor hygienic conditions, their experiences with violence and discrimination, and the difficulties in accessing healthcare, education, and social contacts outside the accommodation.

The clowns of ROTE NASEN Deutschland e.V. bring a little lightness, joy, and hope to the children in a Berlin accommodation for refugees with their commitment. We support this project with our foundation.
