The 13th Berlin Foundation Week is currently taking place, and we at Diyi for Kids were able to attend live. But first: what is Berlin Foundation Week?
There is no better way to describe the idea than the Foundation Week itself: “If foundations did not exist, our society would look different: paler, colder, poorer. Foundations are an expression of diversity and solidarity in action. They embody the wealth of ideas of many people, are based on empathy, and are an unmistakable sign of a willingness to get involved. Those who donate feel empathy, think critically, take responsibility, and look ahead. Founders shape the future through their long-term actions.”
Every year in April, Berlin Foundation Week highlights the breadth of foundations’ commitment in the capital region. Over 11 days, numerous events take place, providing Berlin foundations with a platform for public awareness and joint dialogue and exchange. The aim is to spark curiosity and encourage participation.
This year was no exception—and Diyi for Kids was right in the thick of it. As the face of the “Ganz Schön Persönlich” campaign, we were invited to a photo shoot and interviewed (Interview_DiyiforKids), took part in a panel discussion at the kick-off event at the Berliner Ensemble (recording here), and gave an online workshop on our foundation’s journey. This social attention makes us very proud and at the same time gives us a lot of motivation for further milestones in the Diyi for Kids foundation’s work.
Our special thanks go to Nora Malles, project manager, and Stefan Engelniederhammer, managing director of Berliner Stiftungswoche, as well as Caroline Oehr, our contact person at the Stiftung Hilfe mit Plan foundation, for their great support during this exciting phase of the Diyi for Kids foundation.
Anyone interested in the charitable work of Berlin foundations can find a wealth of information in the form of podcasts, interviews, and an e-magazine at www.berlinerstiftungswoche.eu.
