Clown Visit with the RED NOSES – We’re Live On Site!

Mar 27, 2022

For a year now, RED NOSES Germany e.V. has been a project partner of Diyi for Kids. Through donations, we support the project “Joy and Hope for People in Need” at the initial reception center for refugees at the “Haus am Schwalbenweg.” Due to the pandemic, many clown visits over the past two years could only take place online or not at all. But now it’s once again possible to bring joy and fun in person—and help people forget their everyday worries, even if just for a moment.

This week, we joined a visit to Haus am Schwalbenweg and had the opportunity not only to go behind the scenes with the RED NOSES clowns but also to attend a performance with refugee children currently living at the center. It was an unforgettable experience.

Many children and their families have had to flee their home countries because of war or other emergencies. They carry with them heavy fates and traumatic experiences. Through interaction with the clowns, the children are able to feel carefree and simply be kids again—even if just for a short while.

At the beginning of the visit, some of the children were very shy and reserved. The clowns responded with sensitivity and empathy, meeting the children where they were emotionally. Very soon, everyone was singing, dancing, doing magic tricks, and performing acrobatics together. All the children were beaming with joy and fully engaged.

And I was right in the middle of it all. I became Clown “Number 4” and got to assist—of course also jumping rope and balancing on it. It was a deeply emotional moment for me, and I was incredibly proud that Diyi for Kids helps make it possible to give these children uplifting moments of joy, hope, and comfort.

A heartfelt thank you to RED NOSES and especially to Luise, Luciana, and Sterling for letting me be part of your amazing artistic work for people in need.
